Stunning photographs of the tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico

Now that BP have confirmed that the ruptured well has been permanently sealed, it feels right that we can celebrate these truly stunning photographs taken by Edward Burtynsky.

Burtynsky travelled to the Gulf of Mexico in May 2010 to photograph the oil spill. These pictures along with Pentimento, 10 poloroid photographs made in the ship breaking yards of Bangladesh are currently being exhibitied at Nicholas Metivier Gallery, Ontario, Canada until 9th October.
